About this tool
Volume adjustment multiplies every sample by a gain factor. It can correct an overall quiet or loud file but does not automatically equalize perceived loudness across passages and cannot repair clipping that happened during recording.
Increasing gain also raises the noise floor and can push peaks beyond the digital limit, creating new clipping. Listen to the loudest passage before export. Podcast or broadcast targets require a dedicated tool that measures LUFS and true peak.

Locate loudest and quietest areas and decide whether global gain is sufficient.

Make a small adjustment and preview instead of pushing the level dramatically at once.

Listen on headphones for peaks, noise, and overall balance before saving.
Supported range and limits

- Applies one uniform gain across the whole file; no dynamic compression, no loudness normalisation
- Clipping risk
- Too much gain pushes the waveform past full scale and truncates it, which is unrepairable distortion; check peaks before boosting
- Turning it down
- Safe and largely reversible, though bringing it back up afterwards also raises the noise floor
- Output
- MP3, re-encoded after the change, so one lossy generation is added
- What it cannot do
- Raise a voice without raising the background; that needs stem separation or a proper DAW
